Senior Mechanical Engineer
Oxfordshire
£45,000 to £66,000 per annum
Our bespoke market leading client in Oxfordshire are seeking a number of mechanical design engineers, to join their growing team, following the company’s best year in business.
The successful senior mechanical engineer will be working within a technical manufacturing environment, working with the latest cutting-edge technology and have the following experience:
- Mechanical design using both CAD and CAE so that safety and functionality for the full product life cycle are considered; working with external and company experts where required.
- Engage with the specialist knowledge holders to understand design constraints imposed by end-user requirements.
- Use mechanical engineering analysis tools to evaluate the designs to the required safety standards and the functionalities and make the appropriate design decisions.
- Support the analysis and definition of modular design rules and standard interfaces in product.
- Lead value engineering, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design for service at various stages of the product design cycle to drive optimal product cost and operations and service friendliness.
- Produce robust CAD models and drawings for new or using existing parts and assemblies that comply with critical design interfaces or modularity rules, ensuring that PLM attributes are completed in full in line with design office guidelines
- Demonstrate a full understanding of the Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system to ensure that manufacturing bills of material are optimised
- Identify where Engineering Change Request process is required and ensure that Engineering Change Requests are actioned appropriately.
- Support suppliers and customers with design queries when required.
The senior mechanical engineer that is appointed would have the following experience:
- Knowledge of engineering Processes (e.g. FMEA, ECR, MRP)
- Strongly contribute to a specific technology area and gain an appreciation of others (i.e. cryogenic design, magnet design, ergonomics design, design processes)
