The Role
As Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the company’s core infrastructure.
You’ll lead a small team of engineers, set technical direction, and ensure systems remain secure, scalable, and high-performing.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on the design, architecture, and delivery of infrastructure solutions across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Manage core infrastructure services: servers (Windows/Linux), networking, storage, firewalls, backups, and disaster recovery.

Oversee virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper-V) and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

Drive automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell.

Maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure 24/7 availability.

Champion security best practices and support compliance (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+).

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and Tier-3 escalation support to the wider IT team.
What You’ll Bring

7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems administration.

Proven background leading or mentoring technical teams in a multi-site business.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

Strong scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).

Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

Relevant certifications (MCSE, CCNA/CCNP, ITIL, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect) are beneficial.
