Job Title: PCB Assembly Technician

Key Responsibilities:

Assembly of PCBs:

  • Follow engineering drawings and schematics to assemble components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) accurately.
  • Ensure proper placement, alignment, and soldering of electronic components according to specifications.
  • Conduct quality inspections to verify that assembled PCBs meet standards and quality requirements.

Prototype PCBs:

  • Work on prototype PCBs to assist in the development and testing of new products.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot and resolve any issues during the prototyping process.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements based on hands-on experience with prototype assembly.

Cabling and Wiring:

  • Perform cabling and wiring tasks to connect components on PCBs and assemblies.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and assembly instructions to ensure proper routing and termination of cables.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical connections to ensure functionality and reliability.

Soldering and Crimping:

  • Utilise strong soldering skills to join electronic components to PCBs securely and reliably.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in crimping techniques for wire terminations and connectors.
  • Adhere to industry standards and best practices for soldering and crimping operations.

Surface Mount Skills:

  • Apply surface mount technology (SMT) skills to assemble miniature electronic components onto PCBs.
  • Operate SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines and reflow ovens effectively.
  • Ensure proper handling and placement of surface mount components for optimal soldering and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in PCB assembly, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong soldering and crimping skills with the ability to work with small components and fine-pitch parts.
  • Familiarity with surface mount technology (SMT) and related assembly processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
