Job Title: Navigation Algorithm Engineer

Salary: £45,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
Navigation Algorithm Development:
- Design and develop algorithms for strapdown inertial navigation systems.
- Implement estimation and adaptive filtering techniques (e.g., Kalman filters) for data fusion from underwater sensor sources such as IMUs, DVLs, acoustic positioning systems, GNSS, and depth sensors.
Sensor Selection and Modelling:
- Research, select, and validate sensor solutions suitable for integration into the navigation system.
- Define requirements for various sensor packages and model, simulate, and characterize their behavior for optimal integration.
Simulation and Validation:
- Develop simulation and validation tools supporting navigation algorithm development and testing.
- Create tools for validating hardware product performance and post-processing of data.
Real-time Software Deployment:
- Support the deployment of navigation algorithm modules into the real-time codebase, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Collaboration:
- Contribute to architecture concepts, navigation tasks, and engineering projects within a cross-functional team.
- Deliver software adhering to defined best practices and communicate effectively through presentations, documentation, and reports as necessary.
Requirements:
- Expertise in developing algorithms for strapdown inertial navigation systems.
- Proficiency in implementing estimation and filtering techniques like Kalman filters for sensor data fusion.
- Experience in sensor research, selection, validation, and behavior modeling.
- Skilled in developing simulation and validation tools for algorithm testing.
- Ability to deploy algorithms to real-time software environments.
